I'm a follower of the adorable Buggie & Jellybean blog (you should be too); her blog, her kids, and her etsy shop are all fabulous-- and this week, she's participating in the greatest challenge! I missed reading about it yesterday, but I really want to join in the fun and couldn't agree more with the originator of the challenge... the adorable Emily Anderson, super-mom to four precious tots. Below in italics are her exact words from her blog post about the challenge. I am not taking any credit whatsoever for this awesome idea... but am wanting to participate in her "Embrace the Camera" challenge and am hoping my readers will play along and link up! As I said, I am already two days late on the challenge... so read what Emily had to say on the subject, then keep on readin' to see what I'm proposing!
do you have pictures of yourself, with your little people?
in this day and age of the "momarazzi", many of us are always behind the lens...rather in front of it.
some of you feel much more comfy behind the lens, and i get that.
look, you think i want pictures of myself in the same velour jogging suit for the 3rd day in a row {i slept in that jogging suit each night too---i know, gross, right?}
well, i don't really want those pictures...but my kids do---or, at least they will one day.
how many of you LOVE looking at pictures of your parents, when they were young{er}?
i'm raising my hand!
sadly, i don't have a lot of pictures with me and my mom from when i was younger.
i am off to change this for my kids.
i want them to have an abundance of pictures...to remind them of these days that we spent at home together.
the days may seem to drag...but honestly, the years fly.
is my son really about to graduate...from kindergarten?
wasn't it yesterday that i was wiping his diapered bottom? and now i am wiping his pee up from all around the toilet. embrace the pee.
and embrace the camera.
all next week (monday thru friday) i am going to take a picture of me with my kids. maybe with 1 kid...maybe all of them. more than likely with whomever wants to cooperate.
will you join me?
we will call it the {embrace the camera} challenge.
get out your self-timer camera.
give your $1,000 camera to your 3 year old {yikes!} to capture the shot.
hit the button and run and jump into the photo.
hold the camera out in front of you and your munchkin.
take a shot in the mirror.
whatever you need to do, to capture yourself with the little people.
if you are thinking "no thanks...i don't want my crusty self in the photograph, thankyouverymuch" then you are going to get a swift kick in the shins for that. {and trust my bruised shins...that hurts}
do you honestly look at a picture of your mom from back in the day and think "man, she was {insert your horrible adjective that you use to describe yourself}"
no.
we don't think that.
and neither do your kids!
so, pick up the camera and get shooting.
link up everyday {in the comment section} so i can see who is participating!
and just so you know, even if you don't have little people, you can still embrace this challenge!
who doesn't need a little help getting comfy in front of the camera?
get out there with yo' crusty self and smile!

Okay, it's "me" again... so, I am just loving this challenge, maybe because this is one of the last few weeks Carson & I will share, just the two of us. So, I think looking back, even just one year from now, I'll be so glad for the photos of us together, just the day-to-day... maybe it's us on the cereal aisle of HEB, or checking out at Target, or folding laundry on the couch. That's the real deal-- not the made up, fun and fancy. Take a quick photo with your phone, get out your fancy camera and set the self timer, play dress up with your kiddos and have a photo sesh! Just play along. I think we'll all be glad we did. I couldn't agree more that looking back-- these moments, spent "at home" with my little boy are just precious and priceless. I wouldn't trade them for the world. (He's screaming crying at my feet-- pitiful tantrum going on 10 minutes, as we speak).

Okay, so here's my challenge-- and it includes those of you who don't have little ankle-biters of your own just yet, so listen up!
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 26th and every day until next Wednesday, June 2nd-- you post a photo of YOU & your baby (babies, kiddos, pet, baby bump, room-mate, hubby)... it can be a wordless image, you can tell us all about it, you can be dressed to the nines, or in a track suit and no makeup. No matter what, YOU have to be in the photo and the same person/people need to be in the photo all week.
You can link up on my blog tomorrow thru MckLinky-- copy & paste the link to your blog post/photo each day. Then, next Wednesday, June 2nd you can email me your favorite of the photos that you took for the week. I'll post all of the submissions on my blog, then on Friday, June 4th YOU all can select your favorite photo. Sound good? The winner will receive a fun little summer prize pack from yours truly.
I'm hoping this will bring some of my favorite blogging mama's out of hiatus: that means you Jacci & Abby.
If you'd like me to email you the "Embrace the Camera" image to post with your photo each day, just send me an email at thetichenorfamily {at} gmail {dot} com or if it works for you, just copy and save it right onto your own computer. It's all yours. I'm hoping you all will play along... either way, get ready for some pictures of a big ole pregnant mama and her blue eyed angel!

Seriously a sweet idea. We always ARE the ones behind the camera. I'll have plenty from the weekend (hopefully!) so I'll try to play along. It's just the sitting down and loading thing that gets me every day. Yes, because I get lazy in the evenings. And during nap time.
